What is the best class for my new dog right now, or if we are new to dog training?
Register online today for orientation (Week 1) in a small-group PuppyLove or Basic Manners program with experienced trained professionals & volunteers.
(Easy on-line registration forms at https://bestpaw.com/registration-page & available by e-mail (even by stamped mail if you prefer!). Advanced payment & form required for discount offers.)
Our innovative open enrollment program means you can start class this week - no waiting for a far-off start date!
PuppyLove & Basic Manners are parallel programs with mostly the same material covered in each. (Extra material & off-leash work included in PuppyLove.) We are positive, not permissive, & want to help you & your pet have a safe, happy life together.
PuppyLove limited to pups 8-18 weeks old at orientation. Early socialization in a safe, well-run puppy program can actually increase neural pathways in the brain for pups that continue socializing when they first come to their new homes, up to the age of 16 weeks.
Basic Manners is for adolescent and adult dogs. Start today to fix any bad habits that have already surfaced, and to prevent future problems. Start improving their social skills today.
Both PuppyLove & Basic Manners cover:
Start as soon as you get your next puppy, as we do with our own pups at 8 weeks of age. There is no need to wait for final puppy shots since improvements in the shots our pups receive make it safer than ever to come to class young.
Studies also point out the importance of early group sessions for mental and social development, with the fastest, strongest benefits for contact before the pup is 16 weeks old.
World-renowned lecturer, trainer, researcher Ian Dunbar DVM, recommends pups meet 100 people before they are 8 weeks old, and that they meet another 100 people before they are 16 weeks old.
We are happy to provide private classes for young pups, especially if that is what your schedule and needs dictate. However, especially since we receive more individually for private sessions, you can feel sure that when we say, "Take PuppyLove right now, while your pup is young enough!" you know that it is the best choice for your new best friend.
Lead trainer P.J. Lacette, who does most of our private sessions, explains, "It is impossible to do as much, even with my own puppies, even living at the Osteen site, as I can in our groundbreaking group PuppyLove programs."
Teaching pups how to focus around distractions, and to respect and like other dogs and other breeds, is a great foundation for happy, friendly dogs in the future.
And if you are taking the PuppyLove (or Basic Manners) series, you get private sessions at Osteen during your series dates for just $25.
Private sessions are available for Detouring Doggie Delinquents pets at our Osteen home base. Programs are geared to your family’s & dog’s individual needs. Periodically we also offer workshops & continuing education sessions for our Detour Doggie Delinquents teams.
